This week I tried to use Formlio for a capabilities deck at the request of a new prospect. I found challenging to adjust that I ended up abandoning it as a possible solution. Here’s a list of all the things that prevented this.
The existing blocks are too bloated and rigid. In some areas I just needed a single block for an image or text. In some cases are was able to delete some of the text but it left a huge gap where the text was.
The existing H tags were also too limited. In some areas, the text was either too big or too small, and never the size I needed.
Zero ablity to add images into certain blocks — I wanted to add our logo to the header and there was no way to do it. I ended up having to create an image that already had our logo imposed on it but had to try multiple times to get it aligned with the grid.
Public sharing (anyone with a link can view) — this was the final cause that made me abandon Formlio for this use. I understand that the end user would be able to add viewers but this is way too much work to add to the prospect experience. At the prospect proposal stage you want to reduce as much user friction as possible and this just ads an unnecessary layer of complexity.
